Programme:
Molecular and cellular aspects of toxicity . Mechanism of transport of xenobiotics through cell membranes. Binding to proteins. Biotransformation of toxic compounds. Binding to receptors. Factors influencing metabolism, deposition and excretion of xenobiotics. Specific examples: toxicity of metals, organophosphorus compounds, pesticides, organic solvents and effect of radiation.
