Research fields
Ecogenetic studies on human populations exposed to physical (ionizing and non-ionizing radiation) or chemical mutagens (cytotoxic drugs, anestethics, pesticides, vinyl chloride monomer, benzene, polycyclic aromats, and heavy metals).
For the assessment of genotoxicity different biomarkers are used: structural chromosome aberrations, micronuclei, sister chromatid exchanges, mitotic index, comet assay, specific staining techniques, FISH, chromatid breakage assay, in vivo rodent micronucleus assay.
Continuous ecogenetic follow-up study of the general population in Croatia.
Continuous follow-up of the population occupationally exposed to physical and/or chemical mutagens (according to the occupational health regulations in Croatia).
Cytogenetic risk assessment in accidental cases.
Genotoxicity studies on animal model in vivo as well as on human and animal cell lines in vitro.
